When Do You Use Hyaluronic Acid in Facial Treatments?
So, what is Hyaluronic Acid (HA)? Well, for starters, it is a clear substance that is produced by the body naturally. In the human body, hyaluronic acid helps to retain collagen, increase moisture, and provide elasticity and flexibility in your skin. Now, you can find HA in over the counter lotions, serums and even supplements sold in health food stores. There are so many benefits to using HA and that is why it is used as a treatment in many facials. Find out which facial treatments most commonly will use a form of Hyaluronic acid.
Microneedling
Microneedling is a skin rejuvenation procedure that helps diminish the signs of aging, decrease the appearance of acne scars and revitalize aging skin. The procedure consists of tiny, painless needles being inserted into the tip of the pen-sized device. The device is moved gently over the face where the needles disrupt the surface of the skin. These many, slight disturbances open the skin for better absorption of serums like a HA serum.
Microdermabrasion
The microdermabrasion procedure exfoliates dead skin cells from the skin. This treatment, while not painful, can cause a slight warm sensation as the microdermabrasion crystals gently remove damaged and old layers of skin. Hyaluronic Acid is normally used during the prepping and nourishing stages right before the procedure starts.
Dermaplaning
This is another innovative approach to remove dead skin cells, allowing a jump start for skin renewal and infusion of nutrients. Dermaplaning is a simple and safe procedure for exfoliating the skin and bidding adieu to peach fuzz. It is most often used on one who has dry skin, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, or wrinkles. HA is usually put on after the procedure to fill the skin with a natural collagen booster.
Some other treatments that Hyaluronic Acid is used in and/or after:
- Botox
- Chemical Peel
- Moisture-boosting facial
We have two HA serums that we recommend using during these treatments or even at home to help plump up those wrinkles. Illuminate and Lustre both have a high concentration of Hyaluronic Acid and will work wonders to wake up tired and dry skin. For those that want an extra collagen boost, we recommend Lustre, our age-defying Hyaluronic Acid Collagen Serum.
